Has anyone got any advice on how to catch one of these fish. Is the rig and bait the same as when fishing for flatties or cod.
I,m a bit stuck as to tactics.
Would love to catch one-or a thornback next time i,m down Hartlepool.
Cheers Mick.

I find them easier to catch on lures. otherwise use flapper with 1/0 for schoolies or 3/0 upwards for the bigger ones. baits rag/crab/squid depending on the mark. for more info: plenty of it on this site. have a browse....

if its in hartlepool. the only bait the local lads use is ... ragworm.... a simple 2 hook flapper lobbed no more than 40yds is all you,ll need.
cast to the horizon and forget bass.

we have our own supply of fresh crab and its not worth using. the bass are mainly small and rag on its own is the only bait we will consider.
