Welcome to the site mate. Try this link for a list of local tackle dealers around that way http://www.thenumberone.co.uk/area10.htm

Most Good tackle shops are more than happy to help in getting you started.
Also use these forums and I'm sure there's always an answer from someone

Best of luck

I would recommend the Hastings pier and Steve's Tackle Shop:

Steve's Tackle Shop ( Hastings ),
38 White Rock
Hastings
Sussex
TN34 1JL
01424 433404

It is an excellent place to start sea fishing and learn the basics.
Just over an hour driving from your place.
Steve is most helpful. Give him a call.

Would agree with Vlad. Steve's is a good tackle shop - bought bait there a couple of weeks ago and just across and down the road from the pier which is a good location to fish off although possibly not producing a lot of fish at the moment but that's probably true of a lot pf places. If you're close enough it might be an idea to try the pier at night. Your rod ticket (£4.50) covers you up to midnight.
