Greys GRX-s would do nicely for general beachwork. Penn Ruffstuff for heavier ground and seas. Shakespeare Odessa Bass for bass, surf and flatties. Those are three good priced rods that you could just about go anywhere and do anything with. as for reels buy an Abu 6500C3CT and a Penn 525Mag extra. Check out the G.A.C or Tonys tackle or another mail order. All i have listed should not cost you over£425 if you shop around.

Or as others say buy a Century tip Tornado, Zziplex 50/50 or Conoflex Vampire and own one of the best general beach rods on the market.

The GRX is good, i own one as a second pier rod. Fact is it is nowhere near close to my Century TT or Carbon Metal. For that kind of money you can not expect the best. Those three rods i have stateed earlier though are all great rods taking into consideration, price, value and performance. They will see you right, and help you tackle a very wide variety of marks and species. Hope that may help you.
