After a biteless blank session at Drigg earlier this week, I fancied something different. So left the rod rest and seatbox at home and took one rod & reel and a small rucksack for my gear and fished Beckfoot from low up after digging 50 blowlug beforehand.

Got there to find tide hadn't gone out as far as I expected, but after 300 yards of wading from the water's edge I was still only in knee deep water. Got cast out for about low water and had nothing for the first two hours, other than a wet left leg due to the hole I discovered in my chesties and a couple of big bits of weed. Weed then disappeared and I got a decent bite which turned out to be a nice schoolie of about 2.5 lbs, keepable size but I put him back for another day.

Shortly after I got the worst birdsnest I've ever had which took a full 30 mins to unpick, and I reeled in to find a palm size Plaice on the end. Started getting quite cold and wet in the heavy rain showers, so gave it until just after 4.00 and packed in, with a similar sized Plaice on last cast.

Five other rods out, spoke to 3 of them who hadn't had anything. Just got home to a welcome hot shower and cold beer.

Think that would've been after I left mate, there were three lads fishing at waters edge but I was a few hundred yards out in me waders as it's so shallow, left just after 4.00. Certainly felt like Autumn rather than Summer!
