Well been in benidorm 4 days now and I've been fishing twice the first time was a poor choice of timing was 34°c and I went to wet a line....60 mins in an I lost a half stone in weight from sweating !! Crystal clear water lots of fish and a bite a cast but for love nor money I cldnt connect with any of them. I have planned to go out every morning since I got here but the vodka red bulls are pretty large over here so been too rough to get up early !! Went out tonight as the sun was setting was pretty slow until it got dark which I thought was quite weird?? Scott Hutchinson was telling me it's illegal to fish inside the marinas in Spain think someone needs to tell the Spanish there was maybe 8 or 9 of them.fishing the marina so I thought bugger it why not. First cast resulted in a blenny of sorts no idea what kind tbh

photos ain't great I'm afraid !! Quickly followed by another.
Nxt cast I chucked as far as I cld and quickly had a bend in my rod an it even took a wee bit line back too first thoughts were a small grouper but I think it's some kind of comber ??

I moved round to the other side of the marina onto a stoney outcrop and had about 10 last casts as you do and was graced with one of the nest lookin fish I've ever caught ( it also looks quite sad lol) a small bream it even posed for a photo with its dorsal find all proud

I had 3 of these I was very surprised at how aggressive the takes are from such little fish wld love to hook into a bigger one on the UL. So defo 2 new species tonight maybe 3 will settle for 2 tho.

Cheers

Nice one. Your comber is a black scorpion fish and is poisonous so be careful, your bream looks like a grunt.

They don't do measures on the continent eh! I get where you are coming from with the heat too, I can't imagine some of the conditions these folk catch GT in, it must be unbearable.
That being said I think I could endure it if the fishing was really good eh.

I was careful while handling what I now know as a black scorpion fish used used a towel while unhooking thanks for the ID too ;).
I would gladly endure the heat to go catch some monsters too

The secret to fishing in the heat is to cover up. When I used to fly fish the flats in Cuba for bonefish It used to be long sleeve shirt and superlite trousers which kept you cool in 42c just make sure it's loose fitting. Don't really need the trousers if your not wading.
Anyway well done on your start I'm sure there be plenty more to come.

That's the exact reason I've only made it out a couple times Ben pretending I'm a fish haha went out this morning few wee bites but failed to hook up with any of them I'm putting it down to being tired fiahing after 3 an a bit hours sleep wasn't that much fun haha
