Best current price for a Savage Gear Boner?

Well the mrs wants her own rod for when I take her out occasionally to do a bit of float fishing or spinning.

I thought I would work it to my advantage and get something that I could also use when she isn't with me.

Originally I thought this should be a travel rod, but after thinking about it for a while I have realised that with 3 young kids we are unlikely to be getting on a plane anytime soon and a small spinning rod will fit in the boot of the car anyways (which is the main reason I was thinking of a travel rod in the first place, for those moments when you take the family out for a nice drive and happen to arrive at a mark to see how it is fishing and everyone is on the fish but you have no gear!).

So now I am thinking of getting her a Boner, I already own the Bushwacker and I love it, so it seems a good idea to get a boner for those times where a slightly heavier casting weight is needed.

I also thought that the boner would be ideal for the mrs to do a bit of float fishing for mackys and pollack, spinning with toby/dexters and even some light ledgering tight into harbour walls for some wrasse.

So the question is, does anyone know where the best deal is currently available on the Boner?

I know Garry Evans does it for around £66 delivered with a free Okuma baitcasting reel, but I have a strong suspicion that my mrs might need my Shimano Technium 4000FB, meaning I may be forced to upgrade to something like a Twinpower and I really don't want another reel I will never use hanging around. So I would prefer to get a cheaper cash deal then extras thrown in.

Also, my plan would be to keep either the Bushwacker or the Boner in the boot of the car, however I think it would need a hardcase to protect it from the shopping, pushchairs etc that often get thrown in. Does anyone know of such a thing that would suit a 2 piece 8'6" rod?

Cheers for any help you can give me.

Hi Leeder,

I think i read on here that Gary Evans will do this deal with a fixed spool also if that's any use.

Cheers
