going on a boat tomorrow on the drift for live sandeel and have a few ideas of rigs to use?ie, wire booms, plastic booms and zipsliders. just wundering wats the best to use. also got 16lb flurocarbon, how long should this be for the best results. cheers

Have a google of "portland rig"..dead simple to make up and allows the eel much more freedom of movement. Also works for live Joeys.

Ask the skipper what trace length he recommends. It will vary from mark to mark and tide to tide.

Some say 6ft others 12ft or more

Agree with the portland rig-dead easy to make and effective. Could also try a small bullet lead crimped at one end of a length of fluorocarbon (length dependent on circumstances) with a circle hook on the other end. Swivel-bullet-bead-crimp-6 or so foot of fluoro and then the hook. Again easy to make and pretty effective on the right day.
