Do people still fish at the Black Jetty on Canvey Island as there were an accident on there a while back. Someone got drunk and ended up stuck in the mud and had to be rescued. There was talk about people being stopped going on there. I remember it was a good place to fish but a long walk up the jetty.

when we had the boat out from there we use to tie of the legs and fish for the bass along there ,ive had my 2 biggest soles from there one was 1lb5oz the other was 1lb7oz the bass fishing can be good 2oz lead dropped down the legs with a soft crab hooked behind its back also the person who fell of there drinks out of the lobby pub idiot

i would ask on here colin as there is afew people who fish of the jetty ive not fished of there due to bad knees you have to climb up ladder the jetty that i said about up the other end fishes well for the bass when they are in we will have to try there needs to warm up abit more so them crabs come in

I went on there years ago, Walked to the end and there was a hole in the floor. So i dropped my tackle down there and pulled out a 3lb Bass. That was my best ever catch. But i have not fished for about ten years now.:boat: But did see other anglers catch Bass up to 7 lb facing southend, Think there a massive channel there thats very deep.

i think its 120ft from high tide now so low will be around the 100ft

I haven't been on there since December. Had a few tiny cod, millions of whiting and the odd flounder. Quite a long walk, but it'll be worth it when the bass arrive.
