Hi Everyone!

Been a member of this Gr8 site for a while now and I was wondering if any of you guys can help me?
I have a 16ft boat and many years of boating knowledge, I would like to fish the Swansea area in the New Year, so help with slipways, best tides to use, weather conditions to avoid and any good marks to head for?

The Knab Slipway at Mumbles is a public slipway, there are 2 there actually, one is a steep-to slipway accessible about 3.5hrs either side of H.W. the "Top Slip" is a long shallow slip that you can launch/recover from, at all states of most tides, depending on how much water you draw.
For cod the area S.E. of Mumbles Pier outside the shelter of the Mumbles Head is number one! you will see a bouy out there its the S.W.I.G.G. bouy (black & yellow) its a mid channel marker, line the bouy up with the Mumbles Pier & you wont be far away, make sure you anchor far enough away from it not to have a tanker bearing down on you!!!!! S.E. of it (towards Port Talbot) where you can see down the Gower Peninsular will put you in the full ebb/flood zone which is "cod alley".
Avoid the big tides! its like trying to fish from a moving car in them, anything over 12metres is a struggle out there, stay in the shelter of the bay, use your sounder around the Lighthouse Island & find out where the "scouring" is, there are always lots of the lesser species to be caught there.
There is a small scattered wreck directly opposite Singleton Hospital, which is good for bream in the summer, & it produces bits & pieces in the winter.

Thank you Blueskip for the information it’s much appreciated, I might see you in very near future, if my memory serves me well you’re the guy with the Boston whaler.

I'll be out on the 9th so long as the weather is OK, you are right its a Boston Whaler, red & white, but called Blue Skip because when I first bought it, it was painted an awful navy blue colour, & my mate (not being a nautical person) not realising that I had been looking for something that shape, said "it looks like a f******g skip that someone has painted blue", what else could I name her but "Blue Skip", thats my call sign!
