Loads of boats have sunk in the solent, bit more info would be good
this week ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,so ive seen somewere ,can t remember were tho

..."snagged by the stern and sinking fast". A lessen there - my guess is he caught a pot rope, and in that area the tide runs very fast. "Anchored" by the stern in those conditions can only have one outcome. No lifejacket either: another lesson. Lucky for him it was in such a busy area and help was close to hand.

No life jacket , he one hell of a lucky MUPPET,,,,,,,,,how old was he 72? think he would of known better,,,,,,,,,,,or he may of just started it as a hobby and not known about the pots,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,mind you they arnt allway marked propely

Having sailed in that area. The problem is that the pot markers can be anything from a proper marker bouy, to a 2.5 ltr plastic container. The latter gets dragged under by the current.

No excuse for lack of safety equipment though.
