Headed on down at 0200 and went north of the golf-course crossing car-park, hoping to get a thornback, but the roar of the surf suggested that wouldn't be too likely! Set up anyway with 2 rods carrying mackerel-baited rigs and a third with nailed-down bits of lug on size 6 hooks for the very remote chance of a sole.
Low water was at 0430 and by then I'd had 2 half-pound turbot on mackerel and 2 schoolies to just under 2lb on the bits of lug.
Then with the flood came the weed - it started washing ashore in bales! It got so bad that I decided to move south a half mile so was straight off the car-park, where it wasn't so bad, but just one more small turbot for my efforts. As the tide came to the shingle, the amount of weed in the water-tables was a clear incentive to pack up and b*gger off!
Hopefully the big tides will strand the weed high on the beach and the weather will settle down a bit more. The surf was just a bit too strong for my liking.
Cheers - John
