Hello,

i want to fit a bow roller, is there any rule of thumb to say how big it needs to be, ie weight of boat therefore it needs a roller of x size.

Also how far should it overhang, should it just stick out enough to clear the hull or should it stick out a foot?

As long as the chain/line is clear of the hull you'll be OK.

Personally I wouldn't have it extended by a foot unless you're bolting into something very solid-the leverage could work it loose.

thanks,

i will measure up and have a hunt round at beaulie tomorrow
You could make up a very handy bow roller/anchor stowage like the sports boats have - I have one on my Trophy. Come by the Trunk Traders section on Sunday, look for a blue volvo with www-boat-angling.co.uk sign and I can tell you more.

Nice to meet you today Neville, thanks for the information.

Hope you had a good day
Yup, good to meet you to. Yup2, got a pink nose, sold loads of Fish Seekers and a few books, cleared out some old junk, bought more junk to replace it (!), met some interesting people and some old friends. A great day out.
