***** Competition for heaviest codling and whiting only - 19 boats enetered *****

Braintree Sea Angling Club held their second memorial boat match in honour of Gerry Armstrong with a fishing match based from Felixstowe Ferry on the river Deben.

Despite the threat of deteriorating conditions, which kept the boats, close inshore, most competitors were able to find plenty of codling and whiting.

The memorial cup and £200 first prize was won by Mick Hudson who demonstrated his experience in these inshore waters to catch the best codling of the day that tipped the scales at 3lb 15oz.

Mark Bodger won the second prize of £50 for the heaviest whiting. Mark was fishing from his 16ft Seahog boat "Dodger" and his whiting weighted in at 1lb 6.25oz.

Braintree S.A.C. would like to thank everybody for their superb support of both the prize giving and raffle, and hope they enjoyed their free food and drink before setting of home after a good day.
