Set my alarm for 5:45 this morning. Was woken by the Mrs at 8 asking why I was still in bed! Even my son who's never been known to sleep past mad o'clock in his whole life had chosen today to see what this "lie in" stuff was all about. Managed to get fishing at 9am. Fished one rod at range with whole squid and rag and one close in with half squid and rag. Pretty quiet till the top of the tide when I had a strap of about 7 or 8lbs on the long rod. No other bites till about an hour after high, when the 2 blokes to my right had a thorny. Soon after I had a few nods on the long rod. Thinking it was a ray shuffling over the bait I waited for the steady pull. After a few minutes I was still just getting nods so I struck into it and it turned out to be a baby thornie, couldn't have been more than 2lbs. Poor thing didn't even have enough strength to break out the grip lead. Hooked into what felt liked 2 decent rays on the next 2 casts but both strangely just came adrift half way in. No bites at all close in.

Tipper,

Nice report, good to see the thornies back. Down Brean this weekend for the first time this year.

Casino night on Friday so I've written off Saturday, but I should be around on Sunday if you're fishing.
Tipper,

Not fishing Sunday, have to travel back to Hants.
