Sorry to say tho Ian, it's nothing like a weaver. Scorpion fish can't harm you at all, they just grunt a bit if you're really lucky!! Weavers are nasty little buggers but look nothing like a scorpionfish.

when we were kids we used to catch what we called bull heads out of the river, they were in fact "millers thumbs" looked like smaller version of the scorpion fish.

Get them in the net getting prawns a lot in the summer.... At Hampton!! (Fish do visit there sometimes!!)

The first time I caught one at Swanage pier a few years back people called them Devil Fish. Maybe a local name
