Hi

Is anyone here using the Bushwhacker 7ft 10-30g rod for Bass?

Savage also make the SenZora 8ft 2in 7-25g has anyone tried on of these. Though I have not seen one stocked anywhere in the UK.

I have an 8ft 6in 15-40g and I think it is great value for money. Fish pretty good as well:)

Hi Graham, welcome to the forum.

You've come to the right place mate. Loads of Bushwhackers around here. They're all the rage. I've not heard about the other rod you mentioned, but sounds very similar in casting weight to the smaller Bushwhackers. Do you think it would cast soft plastics, such as the slug-gos without a jig head?

If you want to know more about the bushwhackers, then do a search. I go through the google home page and type in 'world sea fishing' followed by the keywords, such as 'bushwhacker' and use the options to see all the threads. try searching for 'baby bushwhacker'. there's a good thread with that name about the 7' bushy.

Here's a couple of threads that I found in my favourites:

I hope this helps.

All the best,

Tones.

That's the second time I've heard that about Cheshire Fishing. Definitely worth a go. Ring to check that they have them in stock. Though you might want to see if any of your local shops could match their price.

Heres the site:

£48 plus postage. That's the best price I've seen. Cheaper than the online big boys.

I have just had a boner in my hands and its lovely:victory:, I think if youre in snaggy ground or the possibilty of hooking a decent fish then you'll be better off with the big gun power of the boner. I love the fact that people are going lighter and lighter with their kit but a decent peeved off bass will teach you a lesson on light gear.

Hello Graham, i had the 10-30 gm whacker and loved it, (until i lost it that is,) but i replaced it with the 10-40 also in the 7ft and have had a couple of nice bass with it and it handled them with no probs,, so i still think they are the dogs danglies, (even though i shall hopefully be hunting for a 2nd hand rodbar 240, in the not too distant future :)) Marc..:punk:

But like Mick said, if you are going to be fishing really snaggy ground then maybe something like the boner or at least the 8ft 6" whacker maybe required..

If your like me and want your rods to do a bit more thatn it says on the tin the boner may just be the rod your looking for it will put out light soft plastics [well it does for mossydog if not for me put that down to my ham fistedness not the rod] and also put out 2oz of lead and a big bunch of head hooked rag without splattering them all over the rocks whole squid and 2oz will cast easily enough as well
When i tried 3oz and a bunch of rag it turned into a floppy stick [there again your getting into bass rod work there] but i tried and to a certain extent it worked
the whacker and boner are both cracking rods and i realy don't think they can be beaten for the price
just don't ask me which one to go for i love them both dai

Have to agree with Dai here, I took my mrs wrasse fishing off a local pier today, I used my Bushwacker whilst she used her Boner.

Near the end of the session, I borrowed her Boner to flick out a live sand eel with a 2oz weight and just before we left I even had a few casts with feathers (again with a 2oz weight).

These rods do so much more than just plugging and it is so much fun using light gear (I used to use my bass rods for pier/harbour fishing), aswell as a lot easier on the old back and shoulders.

Although they both perform well, I am glad I bought the mrs the Boner rather than just another Bushwacker, as it is slightly more versatile.

All I need now is a drop net, as the mrs caught either a bass or mullet (I didn't get a clear look) of around 2.5/3lbs on the Boner yesterday, but lost it halfway up the wall and around 6" away from my landing net, its amazing what shows up when fishing tight to the harbour wall with size 4 hooks and little bits of ragworm, lol.

You have just about persuaded that the Wacker 10-30g is just what I am after for lite lures. But then again the Boner would be great as well. (for heavy stuff)

Cheshire fishing list the Boner but not the 10-30 but I will give them a ring. Another good thing about Cheshire is the take PayPal of course the the wife dont know that:secret:
