Can You Eat Scad

Just wondered can you eat scad, I catch them occasionally and return them.

I think the Chineese like them this is from a report on aug12th from Torquay
'About one in the morning a load of chinees people came and all they had was feathers i thought you can not feather in the night but they knew more than i did as they were banging in fish they did not keep any mackie thay only wanted the scad because thay make soup out of it errrr not my cup of tea.'

We just use them as pot/bass bait

Is there anything the chinese wont eat?:g: I dunno what there like to eat but there fun to catch just freelining a sandeel down the dock there are some to 2lb great fun.:clap3::clap3:

If you can get 2lb ers, bear in mind they fight very hard and perhaps better than mackerel.

when you've caught all you 'need' to keep, try fishing for them one at a time on the lightest tackle you can.

Then take a close look - notice how even the eyes have a streamlined surface ; the pectoral fins have a shallow depression to lie in , flat against the body ; the dorsal fin has a groove to drop down into.

Real little speedsters.

Eating: the japanese check on their fat content (just like they do for Tuna) when buying them from Killybegs....wonder if they are for human consumption ?
