we have a company down here that covers all kinds of packaging from bag/boxes to pallet wrap. we get ours from there!
i just tried a search in your area and came up with zilch but try yellow pages or something.
Use the middle from a roll of carpet.

Very strong.

And cheap.

(usually free)

I post rods quite often,I use the insert from a roll of carpet and stuff the ends with bubble wrap ten tape the ends with a flat piece of cardboard and LOTS of tape. I send my rods by courier as the post office wont accept anything over 1.5 metres. I use APC couriers and to post a 7foot long tube cost £10.58 including collection from my address this is for overnight delivery.
Hope this helps

Yep, carpet shop usually has these chucked out the back, ideal for sending rods in.
:)
if you can't get hold of carpet tubes, pop into your local DIY store for some cheap drainpipe and follow method above.
perfect thanx.

cheers for all info.
I've used the cardboard carpet tubes to take rods over to Norway on the plane. Really tough and durable, for extra protection wrap the rods, especially the large eyes that will take the knocks first in bubble wrap or even the whole rod. Wrap the tip and but as well to be safe.
good tips too , wrap larger eyes with bubble wrap, cheers.

its a trip upto the carpet shop for me then :)

Knowing you Andy put a foam fish box each side of the guides and then the bubble wrap :yeah:

Not suggesting you break guides or anything.
try popping in to your local tackle shops they have there rods delivered in plastic tubes and my local shop sells them for about £5 and they come with caps on the ends

I use drainpipe for the same thing. Heavy drainpipe.
Is a good thing too, because last year when I picked it up from the luggage belt at the airport, the pipe had skid marks on it !

I doubt a cardboard tube would have survived whatever treatment it had endured...
