I bought a "Durastar" headlamp off e-bay, it has LEDs & it has three levels of brightness, 2, 4, & 8, If you use the 2 LED setting it is ample to bait up, change traces etc. On 4 you can sort out the biggest of overruns, & on the 8 LED setting you can frighten alsations walking on the footpath (this is true, I put mine on 8 one night & an alsation that was off its lead ran back to its owner) I dont know which of us was most scared!
I have used it now 4/5 times & its as bright as ever, they reckon it will run for 500 hrs on 2 LEDs, it takes a bank of 3AAAs, I reckon its the best headlamp I have ever had (or seen)!
