Hi folks, I spent a while searching but couldn't find anything on the forum for this. Just wondering, when using plugs, if the casting weight ratings on different rods matter that much.

For example, having been thinking about getting a rod for a while, I am down to deciding between the Hiro Bassfighter and the Shimano Technium DF BX300MH.

The Hiro is rated 20 - 60g whereas the Shimano is 10-40g. Just wondering how the weight rating affects the action of the rod.

Cheers

As a very general rule the higher the weight rating the thicker (and stiffer) the rod will be.

I find the weight ratings on some rods to be a bit out - always worth trying them with a variety of weights to see what feels good.

Either of those rods would be suitable IMO...:)
