Hi, one of the Bass i caught Sat had a whole Dover Sole in its gut! It was about 10 inches long. Goes to show what they can get down em.

Maybe juvenile Dover Sole are the new Sand-eels? Rob.

Had one last year with a Crab in it,the shell was about 5" across and it had bloody great pincers on it. The Bass was only about 6lb I think.

Don`t tell me fish feel pain !!!

In the Thames estuary, bass often have a bellyfull of slip soles - they love 'em!

I had a Bass off Newhaven on Sunday which had a small flatfish inside it when gutted, from what was left of it I guiess it could have been a small sole.

Is this an unusual change in diet for Bass?

most fish do feed on small flatties including tope, bass, cod, larger flatties - rays - skate, conger etc it is actually part of their main diet. hmm mayby they do make good bait :)

I have an excellent Bass mark , if i can manage to get a few small sole/flatties i may try a few drifts and see what happens, and report back to the forum. Rob
