cheers bazzac, nope as I was on a testing session I was using a 150ib shockleader which i figure when casting a 6oz weight lets me attach 9oz of bait plus I need a rubbing leader anyhow, casting a pound of weight from the shore with what is in effect a boat reel is something I only ever do when I am myself for safety reasons, even going as far as to weighing fillets to make sure they do not exceed 9 oz and freezing before use, as to using 80ib braid straight through using say a 6oz and standard bait, in my humble opinion handballing say a cod up a cliff mark or wall would end up being difficult as it has not the stretch and is like cheesewire, so all in all I would still use a shockleader of mono but that is my opinion, safety being the first consideration cheers the noogood one john, i am planning on going down there again beginning o next week.
i just wondered about yer 80lb braid, heard a few folks converting lately, spoke to pete b who mentioned it. i take it this is doing away with requirement for shockleader also/or not?
