Saturday 24th March saw the first open of the year held by Chapel Beach Anglin Club. The match was fished at Trunch Lane between 4.30pm and 8.30pm. It was a cold and foggy evening and the sea was slightly choppy with the wind coming in off the sea.

Anglers from around the country came along to support the club in this match.

The overall winner of the match was Grimsby angler Gary Hutson with his bag weight of 5lb 2oz, in second place was another Grimsby angler Gary Hutson with his bag weight of 1lb 12 1/4oz and in a close third was Chapel angler Paul Kennedy with his bag weight of 1lb 11 1/2oz. Paul Kennedy also won the prize money for the biggest flat fish with his 24cm flatty and the winner of the biggest round fish prize was another Grimsby angler Steve Wilkinson with his 33cm Whiting.
Amongst the other fish caught were Smooth-hound and Dog-fish.

Money raised from the match and the raffle will be put towards our charity of the year which is for this year the R.N.L.I.

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along and supported the match.

Our next match is on Saturday 7th April at Chapel Six Marshes. If you require any information on this match or anything else to do with club please contact Michelle at chapelbeachanglingclubHotmail.co.uk
