Hi all

I am just curious to your opinions on what do you's think is the most suitable, reliable and sea worth boat for offering charter fishing as a business

Would like to know why you would if chosen that boat.

Also a boat with a bit of power would be ideal as well as not breaking the bank

Looking forward to hearing your replies

All depends on a budget you have. The choice would be different having £40k or £250k

Do you already have your commercial license to do charters ? If not get that first and see if you still feel like going ahead with opening a business after you've spent getting to know the industry. Insurances, mooring fee's and maintenance soon turn what many think as a dream job into a forced to work everyday you can just to cover costs. Also working with clients on the boat can be demanding if you aren't the right kind of person to help and encourage non anglers how to fish.

From what I hear, much of the fishing is in decline back there now, your reputation will be based on what the new business will catch from when it starts, not previous years as older more established charters will have built up. This will also need good promoting on social media.

It kinda depends on your target market. If you're doing mackrel trips in the bay or going 30 miles offshore will require totally different boats. Would bet the guy doing mackrel trips will probably make a better profit!
I think that's very true - I know of a couple of boats that do mackerel trips so they can afford to do the charters and a few more that do nothing but the mackerel trips - the other advantage is that a holidaymaker fishing for the first time is delighted just to catch anything.
