Hi,

Booked 3 nights away at a Campsite near Weymouth and 5 mins from Chesil Beach.

Will no doubt do some fishing while we are there and just generally chilling out. Can anyone reccomend spots along Chesil to fish preferably near Weymouth and what baits etc to take and rigs etc or just any generall adivce. I'm not really after any huge fish just prefer to catch some stuff and have some fun but wouldn't mind a BASS!!! Going a week Sunday so not long to get whats needed.

Hopefully land a few new speices and have a good time!!

Thanks in advance!!

Hi Greg

The Portland end of Chesil is close by, so for Bass you could try a Macckie head or fillet or even a whole squid close in after dark on a 3/0 pennel type rig. It's worked for me in the past.

As for other stuff I'll leave that to the other forum members.:)

Hi Matey

Fished at West Bexington during the late evening. Fished a 3/0 single hook rig with single frozen hermit crabs at extreme distance, which for me is 80 years…lol

Bass was close in on a large Mackie fillet on 4/0 Pennel rigs.

Cheers for that! Really looking forward to it now!! Can you reccomend any local tackle shops near by for bait. Won't have any trouble getting mackerel from what I have read. As for Rag, Peelers etc??

Thanks,

Greg

Personally I use the big tackle shop in Westbay.. The Angling Centre.. great bunch of lads, tons of gear and good prices too. Got a Salt Drop net in there that was cheaper than big online tackle merchants.

However migh tbe a bit far for you to travel if in Weymouth, so I am sure there are decent ones locally there.

2 tackle shops near there, weymouth angling and dennings tackle, there are bream and gurnard about (2 hook clipped up for bream, size 4 or 6 baited with rag should do the trick) only comment I'll make is please take your rubbish home with you the place is looking like a landfill site at the moment hate to see fishing banned there because of it

Am I right in thinking I wont have any trouble at catching mackie?? From what I have read it should be easy enough!! Just we have a tent so can't really take any frozen bait.....can take bait and leave it in a cool box in the car or something to keep it cool. What sort of bait shall I take in my armoury. Was planing to take, Squid, Sandeel, Rag, Frozen Peeler if I can get hold of any. Lug?? That sort of thing!!

Thanks,

Greg

should have no problem getting some mackerel. squid strip and mackerel strip works well for the bream and gurnard, try mackerel head and guts close in for bass.
