Tried Cley today as there have been some reports of dabs and tings. Arrived at 9am (high water was just after 8) to find the sea very rough with a large swell and big waves, not ting or dab conditions. Nearly did not stop but stuck one rod out with a long cast. Pulled in 10 minutes later with a 31 cm ting so set up the other rods. Had 3 more good tings and a few small ones and a lovely flounder in the first hour all to the rod at distance. Then it went quite until 11.30 when had a sudden flurry of dabs, two were keepers one very nice the rest were very small. This lasted until about 12.30 then nothing until I gave up at 1.30 by which time some very large waves were rolling in. Bait was frozen blacks, squid and mackerel. The weather was lovely and it was nice to be on the beach again after my last useless trip to North Beach. There was virtually no weed.
