There is a picture in Sea angler magazine this Month af a guy with a ray at witches point and it says the bait he used is sandeel and cod liver oil capsules.

So unless the angler was fibbing in Sea angler it seems some people are using it in some way

Maybe Jakeb has read the sea angler and was curious?

cod liver oil capsules would be an easy was to use cod liver oil as you can hook the capsules on to the hook before your main bait... the capsule will then leak out the oil living a scent trail as you fish and the capsules will melt away... a lot better than using a syringe to force the oil into the bait you are using!!

I have used the little detergent bags to put a mashed up mackie in and added crab oil to it as a scent trace when fishing off the beach...just have to remember to take the same amount of lead off the end tackle. seems to work well as i have had a few nice fish on it.

isn't it a good idea that a post does go off topic as in some cases it make the topic more interesting and can make the thread come back to what it was all about in the first place?

cod liver oil capsules....could be a item most anglers have with them in there tackle box...there again some of us anglers could suggest other types of scents that could be used in capsules...Lug juices crab pilchards and ragworm. how many people when sorting out there worm just put what is left from bait box down the sink when it could be used to attract the fish we want. If the capsule had a little tag so we could put the hook through and the capsule made so it would slowly melt releasing the the atractant in to the sea a little like the pva bags used in carp fishing.

there is never a need to be negative about a thread... ... get a life a nd do something real...That is what all we are doing here finding out information on a range of different things to do with a sport we love
