just got myself a seajeep, very pleased with the boat, only thing is it has a snipe bunked trailer.is it quite easy/cheapish to convert it to roller or is it just as cheap to buy another trailer and sell off the old one.if you can convert it would you put on one roller at a time with the boat mounted so you can see where to put the rollers or is there a better way?

I hope to convert my trailer next week. Off tomorow to get costings for rollers. Boat is approx 24' so will need about three or four sets each side. I'm hoping it will be a simple case of putting the boat on the water, cutting off the bunks, then replacing with rollers ready for adjusting when the boat is retrieved. I envisage it will cost at least £600. Any more and I might consider a new trailer.

£600 to convert?seems a dear do to me,got a quote from indespension for a nice swinging roller trailer suitable for my seajeep for £1050 inc vat.think this would be my choice if it looked like costing anything like £600.my current trailer already has some cheap looking rubber rollers and just two bunk rails at the rear at the transome end.i thought i could do the job by just changing the bunk rails for maybe a couple of rollers in place of the bunk rails, dont know if this is feasable or sensible.

Double four roller set-up, excluding brackets and u-clamp, £108 each (ex- VAT). Calculated that I needed four or five units each side - total eight or ten, costing over £1k. Too expensive, so I've decided against it, given the age & general condition of the trailer. Trying to make a silk purse from a pig's ear comes to mind!
New trailer from the same company will be about £2,500-£3,000 (plus VAT) to carry 2-3 tons of boat, which is what I need.

Just one point George

Your trailer has still got Keel rollers and this doesnt make the boat roll off very easily as i have them on mine and i noticed that you back two are higher than the others making it so as the boat will have to get onto them before rolling off

just an observation

Hi ETEC
Still to trial this setup then do final adjustments, she dose move ok on the setup, ( ran her off the blocks to let her sit on the trailer).
It was a pig to get on / off with the original bunks & not very stable for traveling with hence the mods, will post a report when I get her keel wet :boat:
Cheers
