Maybe not that cool, but it seems that Daiwa Japan are producing some useful (to me anyway lures), the problem is finding some that stocks them, where I might be able to get some shipped over here.
If anyone has any ideas, as I have searched to better known sites.

Looking for Morethan X-Cross 95 & 120
Moazan Jerk Slider 108
TD salt VIB-RR 72S & 90S

A Huge thank you to anyone that can point me in the right direction.

Cheers Tunny.

I take it you finally got around to watching the Daiwa DVDs!!!! Some pretty impressive stuff on there.

As for Daiwa being uncool, that is definitely the case. The range of lures they do in Japan is very impressive, just a shame we can't get most of them here. Perhaps we need a forward thinking lure shop to approach Daiwa Japan.....

Maybe then we can get Branzino rods too.....

Uncool, Hmmmm......

Weight transfer, less than 30 cm deep, same action as a Feed Shallow.
Yes I think Daiwa might have at least one or two good lures apart from the SL, that we get in the UK. Plus I like some of the colours. OK not as sexy as a Feed, but at about just over half the price. I think Daiwa are missing a trick.

But Struggling to find the lures even on ebay sites. They seem to only stock the more exotic (and expensive) lures. Would be happy even if it was a well thought of flea bay store.

Ever hopeful,
Tunny

Dave,
I have a mate in Tokyo who I occasionally ask to send me magazines (which i can't read!) that have a lot of Sea Bass info in them. Next one I get i will look for some Japanese shops that sell Daiwa. Unfortunately some of them are Japanese only.
I have some old mags at home if you want to look at them next time you are over this way.

Tested out a Morethan X-Cross 120 yesterday.

Personally I LOVE the Japanese Daiwa lures. And over here, if the Saltiga Minnow IS the same as the Shore Line Shiner then it is one helluva lure for the money!

The X-Cross is good. Not perfect as I'd have thought it would cast a bit better, but the action is nothing short of extreme - to the point where if you wind too fast it actually loses a lot of stability because of it. Same X swimming action as the Feed Shallow, but it rolls from side to side much more - giving off plenty of flashes. Insane. Just don't wind it too fast. It works even with a very slow retrieve though - slower than the FS.

Never seen them anywhere other than Japan though.

If other people think they're uncool, then I love them even more!!!!!!!

I have been using the xcross for about a year now -the one down side is the weight transfer system doesn't work that well. Also I've had different problems with the shore line shiner and even the td minnow (the weights tend to head to the tail of the lure when you jerk them -sometimes just when you pause when retreiving).

The best of all of the diawa lures is still the TD minnow (probably one of the best lures ever made -also suffers least from the above problems).

Being fairly silent they are all quite finessey -if there is a lot of background noise around, something like the tide minnow (with a rattle) is better.

Totally agreed Pisc, the xcross really does dissappoint me on the cast. I was a bit surprised because the SLS is generally so good (long and arrow straight)(unless it's in to the wind - in which case it's flippin' useless!). Think the SLS uses 2 pins/weights while the xcross only uses 1.

Not tried the TD Minnow yet. Over the past 12 months I've spent far too much time shopping in Japan and not using enough of the versions available here.

I have always used Daiwa rods mostly for my freshwater bait fishing(pike and zander) and they are terrific.
Dont know why Daiwa dont seem to sell their more 'exotic' gear in the UK.
Maybee they dont realise their is a market over here etc..............

Funny you should say that Nick, both Dave (Tunny) and myself have been questioning (harrassing?!?!?) Daiwa about their lure fishing sales strategy!!!! Not sure what it is based on but it certainly isn't demand! Hopefully things will improve and we will see more of their top end stuff.
What we do get is definitely underrated by the 'fashionistas' so it remains uncool. Their loss.

I think the 12cm saltiga is the same as something called a shore line shiner R50 -it floats very quickly thats why I don't like it. In fact the 12cm TD minnow and the 12cm saltiga are also virtualy identical apart from the the size of the weight inside, the hooks and finish. The suspending TD minnow is actually the better lure(and cheaper with better colours)

the 14cm saltiga is the same as the sls sl14fg.
