Just stripped down my 7ht mag as the spool release button was not re-engaging properly. Cleared out a bit of the grease that was causing the problem, and thats now sorted. However,in the driveside casing there was what can be described as a broken washer of some sort. Sitting under the main drive gear, it had fallen into several bits. Very thin, dark brown and very fragile. It seemed to be made from some sort of plastic or carbon.

I have put the reel back together, and although it all functions fine, i can now hear a faint clicking as i reel in, a bit like the sound you hear on some bike wheels when free wheeling. Sounds like the anti reverse paw clicking along the gearing.

Anyone ever come across this before? I imagine that the broken washer may be some sort of spacer between the gears and the casing, and now thw anti reverse is sitting at a slight angle once its missing.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Sounds like the drive shaft washer (you'll be needing that ).

Daiwa normally send out such bits FOC.:)

Cheers. I have popped them an email to see if they can supply a new one.

Never had the slightest problem with a Daiwa reel before, so I am not sure if this is a common problem with this model.

 I forget to say Daiwa are not too good at replying to emails...better to ring them.:)
