A few weeks ago I was sorting through some old stuff when I came across an old video "Casting further, the definitive guide to surfcasting" by Dave Docwra,as I no longer have a video player I got a friend to transfer it on to disc for me and have just watched it and was very impressed.
I have no idea where I got the video from or how old it is,the only real clue to its age that I could see were the rods used which are Dave Docwra/Century Victory 200c/200e,the film is an H20tv production but this means nothing to me,has anybody else got a copy of this or know anything about it?

Received this from Jon Bryant today:

I am digging through the archives, I directed it and appeared in it, and got bit of tuition from a serious surfcaster to boot, but it was a while ago now, will keep you posted, there seems to be sufficient interest to make it worth running out a few DVDs if I can find the masters. I shot it all broadcast standard so the DVDs are much better quality than the vhs versions we first sold and that Geoff converted.

Cheers

Jon

They won't cost much but do mention to the forum that they wont be free and I do still own the copyright:)

so it might be a goer for anyone who's interested in a copy

Hi, Just to say I have located the Casting Further masters this morning, still looks pretty good, always tried to build a decent shelf life into productions, fortunately no big hair and shoulder pads to date this one, so will just need a day or two to freshen it up, using more up to date DVD authoring software (so menus work on PCs, Play Station, portable DVD players and set top DVD players).

When I last contacted Dave we hadn't spoken for a few years, times were hard and I wanted to see if I could start selling them again to earn a few bob. I needed to track him down because it was a joint venture and I wanted to split anything I made so needed to know where he was now having sold up the shop. That's when I found he was on oxygen most of the time, drinking like a fish and was clearly seriously ill. I then had a few problems of my own and the "re launch" never happened.

I will see if I can find out, but I fear the worse as Dave was a very sick man and that's a few years back now, if anyone does know where he is or if he is still with us please let me know. I would be very uncomfortable with selling them in the future and not honoring our original agreement.

He was a good man with a real fishing brain.

i couldn,t agree more Jon, while i never met him i had numerous conversations with him when he had the shop regarding tackle -tactics etc and was always willing to help, a proper angler not just a shop owner, Dave practised what he preached. in fact i still have a rod bought from him and reccomended for my casting and fishing style at the time, a daiwa AWB126M one of the best rods i have ever owned and still gets an airing from time to time.
dave also wrote some fantastic articles in sea angler mag...to my mind one of the best writers ever, he always said it as it was, no bull****.
he also wrote a book called "fishing my way by Dave Docwra", very informative covered all aspects of beach fishing that i could realy relate to.
i would certainly be interested in a copy of your dvd Jon A

Daves still about and enjoying his fishing. Hes about on the freshwater match circuit. One of a few anglers now who can still catch large amounts of silver fish instead of getting caught up in carp only syndrome. Heard hes still trying different methods from the norm and ordering weird and wonderful ingredients to make up his own specialised groundbaits etc. Didnt know his son was still selling gear, the tackle shop has been a music shop for a fair few years now.
