Decathlon

Just picked up a 10ft spinning rod and reel from Decathlon sports store for just £9.95. I'm new back into the sport but I thought this isn't bad for a tenner. Has anyone used the rod and reel I'm talking about? and if so have I just wasted a tenner or have I picked up a bargain.

Have you used it fishing yet. I bet that after the first couple of times you use it you`ll be able to see for yourself wether it was a waste of money or not.Not being critical mate ,its just a lesson we all go thru when new to the sport. Good luck on the learning curve mate. This is the place to ask questions tho!
The fish don't know how much you paid for it. Use it in the right place and you'll catch.

At a guess it's probably too flexy for doing fancy walking the dog, wibble the wizards sleeve, castrate the cat type stuff with soft/surface lures but then purists/expert types seem to blank just the same as us mere mortals.

If the fish are there then you can take them.

Only downside is I wouldn't expect it to last long. The cheap stuff i buy tends to corrode quickly so make sure you wash it off in the bath afterwards.

Yes, agree with this regarding quality.
And always wash your rod in the bath after use, and clean your rings.
