Very sad. R.I.P.

Police called to sudden death at Parton beach, nr Whitehaven

Police were called to a beach at Parton yesterday, Sunday 14 October, to reports of a sudden death.

Raymond Bull, 71, of Derwentwater Road, Whitehaven was found at Parton beach near Whitehaven. At 9.56pm, police were informed that family members had found Mr Bull in the sea. He had been taking part in a fishing competition earlier that day and concerns had been raised for his welfare when he failed to return to a rendezvous point.

Police and the Coastguard attended the scene after family members had managed to recover Mr Bull to the beach. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, Mr Bull was sadly pronounced dead at West Cumberland Hospital.

His death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage and his family have been informed. The case will now be passed to the coroner.
