Hi Graham

I fish the same area, and no I have not seen any sores on any fish this season, however - the codling I have caught this year have been small young fish. Nothing bigger than 3 lb unfortunately.

How big was the scabby thing?

i have had a few cod over the years with soars and cut like gash marks on them, dont no wot its caused through thow, i usually put them back.. i wouldnt eat them as any cut or gash can be infectious to the fish,, wouldnt want that on my plate eay lads..

It was about 5lbs put up a great fight.
