I've recently been catching quite a few Dogfish recently and i was wondering if they taste any good? Is their a size limit for keeping them? Also, how would you go about gutting them and is it essential to skin them?
hi mate, have a look through this forum as there is quite a lot of advice on doggies, recipies etc.
there a bit of a 'marmite'fish really, some folk love em and others hate em!
gut as you would any other fish, skinning is easy once you have done a few, check out a search on youtube.
you either love em or hate em... personally i like them hot smoked or in a curry
We find the easiest way with Dog fish is to just gut them, then cook them as they are. (In the oven in foil with milk & butter is good)
When they're cooked the skin comes off so easily, either before you serve it or on the plate when you're going to eat it. It's as easy as when you have fish & chips!
Tony.
