You might like to consider a pneumatic wheelbarrow wheel bought from a builders merchant of farm shop. Modifying the the extendable strut is easy and as long as you keep the stub axle greased (I drilled and tapped the hub for a grease nipple) it wont rust up.

That's not a bad price Shane, considering some of the ones I saw were over ÂŁ120.
The hard plastic ones should be ok for you launching at places like Minnis Bay, just not as quiet as pneumatic ones as you go down the concrete ramp..
One thing you will find is how easy it is to launch it on your own.

Our inflatable with outboard, fuel, anchor, safety equipment and fishing gear weighs in just under 95kg.
I originally made the transom wheels as the boat alone with nothing in it weighs 41kg and was too much for my partner to help me carry, let alone going back for all the gear once it was afloat.
I am going to make a small trailer for it this winter (found more stuff in the workshop when I cleaned it last week) just for places where there is a slipway. The way I see it is more time fishing than messing about setting up and packing it all back in the car. The other thing is I can wash it all off while it is still inflated on the trailer, whereas at the moment, I have to unpack it when I get home, clean it off and pack it back up when it's dry.

I was going to just that with some old wheelbarrow wheels... Until I found that the new ones you get are made of plastic.

If dragging across sand, defo get the pneumatic ones. It's a killer with these and nigh on impossible with solid ones.

They aren't cheap, but make life much easier. They do rattle a little when folded up against the transom.

Here they are in the up position.

Go pneumatic you will seriously regret the hard plastic ones.

Well done Shane..

Now all you need is good weather to get out there.

Tom, you look a lot younger (and probably fitter) than me.. How far do you have to drag your dinghy across sand?

Here is a pic of how far I have to drag everything to get it in deep enough water to get the engine down (when the tide is out a little bit).

Malcolm :)

ps. excuse me for getting my butt in the pic.

Malcolm

I am very lucky in where I live.
I have Poole harbour to my right and the beach to my left.
Both are no more than a 150m walk (if that).

If the tide is out I may have a further 200m on hard sand in the harbour before I am floating and can row out.

On the beach side I have about 100m of very soft sand to drag across before I get to the waters edge.. That is hard work.
