Anyone seen or even use this rig?

I actually made something like this up a few years ago but never used it.

I made one up when watching the episode as i don't think it was fully explained how it worked, which is rare with sandman videos (i am a big fan). I don't think i would ever actually chuck it in the sea as the top pulley still leaves the lead dragging and, should I lose it, it cost about 10 quid to make.

I might just make one up for a clean beach, see how it goes.

Not for me I'm afraid. Only time I use a pully rig is for rough ground to try and minimise tackle loss and this one does look distinctly snaggy. Plus, I can't see any point in using a pully on clean ground. Running ledger or 2 hooks, flapping or clipped up, would do the job just as well.

I prefer the simplest rig possible, it's easier to deal with on a cold winters night without worries about lighting up the whole Kent coast.

Simple pennel, single hook or double clip downs are normally enough for me, the fewer the components the batter. Although I will use a drop down in a flowing tide to keep the bait away from the weight.
