Hi, I have started making my own rigs as I have found that its cheaper to buy the components in bulk and make my own. Does anyone have good advice for what type of rig and hook size to use to target the codlings and other big boys at Dungeness?

All advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ed,either a pulley rig armed with 6/0 or 8/0 Pennel setup or same hook setup but as a fixed paternoster should calm those old big cod ok.
Also worth trying a live bait rig,6or8/0 hook with a 1/0 tied off the bend and baited to catch a whiting and leave it out there for Mr Cod to come along, but be careful using this method as the cod will hit it hard so set your ratchet or loosen the drag on your reel or you'll lose your rod and reel to the sea at a great rate of knots....Good hunting,it's good down there but try a midweek tide and give herself some room!
