Went down to Dungeness for first time yesterday. Started fishing near to boats at about 1pm. Fished with lug on a two hook flapper. First cast produced a good bite and what felt like a very good fish. However, as the fish hit the surface, I noticed that it was a big eel. To add insult, it came off a few metres out leaving a tangle and a lump of slime on my top hook. As full tide neared caught half a dozen whiting (no keepers). That was it- the weather was great and it really was very pretty down there.
