Hi Everyone,

Yay it is Friday at last WOO-HOO! Long weekend! :drunk:

I want to head out somewhere in East Kent for some fishing on Sunday. So if you draw an imaginary line between say Faversham and Hythe I want to stay East of that line.

I usually fish Herne Bay but want to expand my knowledge by finding a new place to go. I started sea fishing about 2 or three weeks ago and have only had 7 little bass between the 20 and 30cm mark so far. :2: That has been on lug mainly. My dad fished Seasalter the other day (he is also a newbie) and he got a little bass and a big old eel. So, in short, I am a species behind and want to remedy that.

Where can I go on Sunday for a decent chance of catching a different species?

I have a 12 foot beach rod and can only cast about 50 yards. My only reservation is that I don't like the idea of crowded piers. I fish for the relaxation as much as anything.

Many thanks in advance for any advice given, people on here have helped get me from knowing nothing to catching a few tiddlers with confidence in my setup. I know you guys won't let me down with tips.

Kind Regards and enjoy the long weekend!

Tight lines for all! :fishing1:

Afternoon,

Following my last post

http://www.worldseafishing.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2094599#post2094599

I did go out over the weekend in the end and guess what... I caught more Bass! Got a decent one this time so can't complain.

Anyhow, I want to change my question around a bit.

Can any anglers from the Hearne bay area give me some pointers on how to raise my chances of catching something other than bass?

Any tips at all will be much appreciated!

Cheers,

JK

Maybe change your approach, you don't say what bait you are using etc,but bear in mind not a great deal else to catch at the mo,eels don't wanna play, not much in the way of flatfish about, there may be one or two whiting starting to show, worm or fish or a combination may work, usually a bit better at night though,if I were you I would just put up with bass while they last and look forward to the arrival of the codling.

Thanks PETERPUFF

I have been using Lug and suffering with the weed a tad too. I really enjoy catching any fish but I will try some different bait to see what happens. What other baits could I use? I have tried Rag.

I messed things up and ended creating a new thread too.

Not used to all this forum lark. Must get with the times.

Many thanks!

There are one or two other baits to try, sandeel more likely to take more than anything else though, you could try a bit of crab(frozen is better than none) fish or squid but more usually used to tip,it's just that we are going through the in between period more than anything else, you would really need to fish different areas to find other species,as I said before, persevere with the bass, where there are small ones you will find bigger samples, you won't find a bigger one boring. One other method you could try along that way would be bunches of maddies(mud rag)on smaller hooks to try maybe for a flat fish, happy hunting,I'm sitting here really bored, recuperating and knowing by the time I'm fit enough to do a bit the coddling will have arrived:)
