well done kayla and dad hope you beat your dad ,your lucky that the fish took your crab bait was out on the boat the weekend nothing on crab all the fish came to squid even the small hounds what a waste using crab ,shame you didnt get any hounds or bass on the island said to jimmy kelly that there was bass up to 8lb and some medium hounds caught not to far from thereView attachment 200607 Fished East lane today with my littleun (Kayla) loads of Codling caught a few pin Whiting and a small Doggie nothing sizeable, all fish caught on crab couldn't get a touch on fresh blacks or rag. Also couldn't get any bites at range all fish caught 40 yards or less. So many small Codling about at the moment Kayla even managed 2 on a pennel.Using her new pink Bass rod.
Lol, she actually did beat me Ian. Orford was a good meet, but the decent fish just weren't their unfortunately. As always seems the case with the island you get your hopes up, but 9 times out of 10 you come away dissapointed. Bass and hounds would do very nicely at the moment as would a ray or anything that pulls back, I've got crab coming out of my ears at the moment but like you say what a waste on just catching undersize bits and pieces. Tight lines mate:thumbs:well done kayla hope you beat your dad ,your lucky that the fish took your crab bait was out on the boat the weekend nothing on crab all the fish came to squid even the small hounds what a waste using crab ,shame you didnt get any hounds or bass on the island said to jimmy kelly that there was bass up to 8lb and some medium hounds caught not to far from there
Hiya Steve, yeah was good to have a chat with you today mate always good to put a face to a name. It was the first time I've fished their since the storms and I couldn't believe how much its changed either, people have posted about it on here but until you see it for yourself you just can't appreciate the difference and yeah your right it does look very Bassy. As for the pink rod lol, its like casting a stick of rhubarb but shes happy with it bless her:thumbs:Hi Ricky it was nice to meet you today.its been a while since I've fished east lane and I couldn't get over how it's changed with all the shingle gone.
Looking at it at low tide I think it will be a good venue for the bass this summer with all that clay exposed.
I also think I will be getting one of those pink rods from break away as your daughter out fished me today lol.
Cheers
Steve.
Yeah , you got it in one mate. As you well know we make a lot of effort to collect our bait and fish in matches and meets and put lots of travelling time in. But its nice to fish with your kids and get beaten by them, as I know young Daine is coming on a treat. Hes going to be one to look out for in the future im sure.:1a:well done rick on catching a few mate .and very well done to [KAYLA] for showing you how its done lol.quality time farther and daughter fishing what more could you ask for.:1a:
Walked up to the martello tower towards Shingle Street mate. What part of East Lane did you fish mate?
She already does most times mate, while I was putting big baits out in the hope for a Ray she was catching all the smaller fish in close (thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it).:victory:Look at her all smile.
Well done kayla you will be catching more than your dad shortly. Keep it up.
