would estuary eels be good bait?

Also as the skin is thicker would you just feed them onto a hook or would it be better to bind them on with elastic as with sand eels?

Pleas excuse my ignorance, I have not done much fishing for 10 plus years and things have obviously changed a lot since then, good job you answered this question, thanks.

Is it still OK to remove eels to be eaten?

Smoked eel is/was delicious:icecream:
Never had a taste for Eel ... as kids we called them "sewer-fish":fishing:

There was a noticable decline in Eels on the Colne when they stopped pumping the "brown tide" out into the river, or at least a decline in what we caught.

I've seen a lot of Tope caught on Eel section (and had a few myself in the past), mostly caught on 3 inch sections with a bit of guts in them, favourite bit seemed to be the head end ... seen a lot of Pike caught on them as well .... but definately not an option these days.
