Just a quick question, I'm moving the centre console on my 15' boat forward and will need to extend the engine controls to do so. The origional Tohatsu ones I had were very stiff and hard to move, probably due to age maybe? The engine is a 40hp Tohatsu auto mixing 2 stroke. Do I need to buy a Tohatsu control box/cables or can I get a compatible setup? Any advice would me much appreciated.

If there's nothing wrong with the existing control box just buy longer cables.

Cheers, sorry its taken so long to get back. Looks like this is what I will be doing. Its a little old with the odd scratch and though it would look neater if it wasn't too expensive to start again although looking at costs, seems insane to lose the old box, which works fine!

When you open the old box to remove the cables, just give it a good clean, look for any obvious problems and give it a good greasing when you assemble it.

Make sure the cable runs are as straight as possible with minimal turns and NO tight turns.
