Fished the rocks at the back of the golf course today, about 4 hours up to high water.

First cast and the rod bent right over and kept bouncing, no messing about with the take, 3lb cod, bright copper red, obvously resident for a while.

Fished on after that thinking it was going to be busy! not another bite the whole time!!!

Still one fish is allways better than no fish...

Used crab+lug cocktail, but did try other stuff, squid etc.

Nice catch :)

Sometimes if it goes quiet like that it's better to move on to the next gully - crab is the best bait for codling - rag for pollack and wrasse IMO ;)

Thanks for the tip, I will try that next time...

Are there many pollack in that area?

Is it better to float fish a rag or spin an artificial eel or real sand eel?
