BRADWELL REPORT 2ND AUGUST 09

Four of us today, Steve (Treeman), Dave (Blue fin) myself and partner Steve, left the Marina at 8am, and out into a beautifully flat River Blackwater, our course was East and we cracked along at a steady 13 knots,

the wind farm has grown a few more turbines since I was last out,

and not much further out we stopped and drifted for Mackerel, they were a bit thin on the ground but we had sufficient in about an hour or so. The info we could glean on the fishing was not as good as we expected, most of the hot spots were producing very little, and one place was crowded with boats seemingly sitting on each others anchors, this a definite no-no as far we were concerned so we motored a bit further east and found a less populated place, we were the only boat in sight.

The fishing was not exactly red hot but from what we could gather it was no better elsewhere so we sat and waited, eventually the fish found us, we had about a dozen of these, kept six around the 10lb mark, although Steve tried to make his look better

by assisting the scale.

We stayed until the tide was all but finished and started home about 3-45pm, but were not able to pass the “Garden” without having a look.

they were here but all so small

never mind we had a great day out and it was a pleasure to be out the house, first time in two weeks.

The scenery down there is coming on well, be like a forest when they are finished by the looks of things, still waiting for a break in the weather here!!
With lots of Bass around the roots!! Get to work on that weather, there are 6 weeks to go.
