I've got one, it works, catches fish but as to build quality etc I have nothing to compare it to really being quite new to the sport. Its much nicer than my first fladen beachcaster but seems more 'hand made' than the fox pier rod I have. Each section has a fairly roughly finished ring around it for strength I presume, the rings and finish is nice though. Having never seen anything more expensive, can't say a lot more but we will be going out together Thursday
I just received the the Surf 390 13ft Carbon Beachcaster Rod as i wanted something to handle rougher ground. Not had chance to use it yet but seems very good, only time will tell.
Aslong as you dont expect the finish of a zippy or conoflex you shouldn't be dissapointed. My only moan is that i think it could do with a wider coating of sealer/topcoat on the whippings so you get a smoother blend to the blank, but its nothing a little time with some sealer cant fix.
Last year i bought their 13ft Specialist Rod which i used for Bassing and Flattie fishing and its superb, 3lb test curve spigot joints, it will always have pride and place in my rod collection.
Hopefully the Surf 390 will be just as good, gonna be used for F/S night time fishing.
Hi thanks for the reply,s . Good luck and tight line pure let us know how you get on when you are out on thurday. thanks for the input craig i think i will go for it , i dont want a zippy or anything that costs a lot, it is just a hobby after all. just looking for a light rod, how do you find the weight of the rod, i have a couple of old rods here real cheepo,s. But they have done me well the past few years but now finding them heavy to fish all day or night, so trying to lighten up a bit ( but not my wallet) .
These rods are only £67 including postage! I am interested to know what they are like. I think the silhouette 420 looks an ok piece of kit for the money. Please could you let me know what you think of it as with it being a 3piece i was thinking i could just leave it in the boot of my car, along with the Mike Ladle 4Surespin and the Shakespeare Salt Spin 3piece. Shhhh!!! don't let the missus know they are there!
