fished rhosilli today off the ledges, doggies, doggies and more doggies. used crab, lug, squid, mackeral, sand eel and mussle. Doggies were being caught on everything except mussle. Geting fed up of catching these, but as it was they did save the day coz nothing else was caught except got a mega sunburnt face. Did try a bit of beach casting at casual bay a bit later on in the day aswell, heard it was a good place for bass, we caught nothing there but was worth a try. Good day otherwise

That was your mistake, the Ledges is a night venue, even in winter it fishes much better at night than by day!

thanx for the advise, im not a regualar fisher down rhosilli way so dont quite know the goings on down there where fishing is concerned, may pay it a nite visit 1 day

Im thinking of fishing Rhossili tomorrow, but close to worms head and not the ledges. Does anyone have any hints or tips for catching bass down there. Is it best at low tide? Im thinking of using peeler crabs.

Fish the gullies close to the Causeway as the tide floods, but watch you dont get cut off, & if you do, stay there until it goes out again. Either float fish soft crab or bottom fish the gullies, keep the rod in your hand all the time, & "feel" for takes, use a rotten bottom or spark plugs or nuts & bolts.

I think you can forget tomorrow. Some 'Survival Instructor' tried to cross from the Worm on the flooding causeway this morning and didn't make it. They're still looking for him and will reume the search in the morning. His female partner did manage to get across and raise the alarm but got hypothermia in the process. Apparently they'd camped out there last night. (Thought that was a no-no on National Trust land?). There was an Ad in the Evening Post a week ago saying there were going to be survival courses held around the Gower by some group. May be linked. Feel sorry for him in a way but for crying out loud,,,,,,,,,,,,. The most dangerous spot on the whole peninsular and the most publicised for danger warnings.

if your going to fish down by the worm and your unsure of the territory walk to the old coastguard hut on top of the causeway and walk down and to your left try some peeler in the gulleys at top water you can spin but i think it might be quite tough fishing there tomorrow with an easterly blowing and the tide is quite small your best bet would be on the beach under the ledges out of the wind and fish the tide up

Just heard that some people got into trouble on the cause way today seems at least one person has been found died. This is not a mark to come and go as you please, many people have been killed in the strong tide flow. if you fish the mark either leave before the tide comes up or stay on the worm untill the tide is totaly out. If you try to beat the tide you normaly die. sorry for the rant but this area is not a simple beach! saying that its a good mark. doggy

altho i said on first post we fished the ledges, we also fished the boat house before we left was at low water and the causeway was showing fully, im sure i saw sum campers going down to the causeway just when we were leaving, was a guy and woman aswell altho never stopped to chat. we were thinking of going to worms head, but didnt as the tide to go out again would have been way to late to cross back.

Isn't Rhossilli where MATT HAYES and Mick Brown in Total fishing fished a sandy storm beach with rolling leds worm and sand eels cast in the surf end caught bass and golden gray mullet?

yes,they fished up by the national trust house in the middle of the bay for golden grey and schoolies if my memory serves me well !(but thats nothing to go by)!for more info type in golden grey in search !

Thanks for the advice all. In the light of yesterdays news I may stick to Swansea or Mumbles Pier and leave Rhossili for another time.
