there is nothing like the rattle of the rod tip at night but do you find it much better to fish at night in terms of catching ?

there seems to be plenty of pictures on peoples blogs of decent fish of all species caught in bright daylight ?

is the sea REALLY that dirty and cloured round here, enough to make a difference ?

I have fished happy valley at night and not had a bite and fished there in the day and brought out doggies, conger, pout, rockling

We're having a mini-meet Sat night on Cefn Sidan m8....why not come along? The more the merrier
The answer to the question, I think, definitely depends on where you fish. Seems to me the cleaner the water (west of here) the better the results at night.

Hi Ohter

Cefn Sidan is a bit far out for me this week, I got some christening to attend :schmoll:

I had a bash at lug digging on swansea beach, i was waiting for a lift, tool a quick stroll on the beach, there were two guys digging trenches, they had a spare spade, i said can i have a bash!

They were more than welcome for me to help. I adopted your methods shown on the video from the other thread, I had 5 worms in a few minutes,:yeah: it worked PERFECTLY! I was well impressed!:notworthy

My wife would not let me go back down though cos i was going fishing all day yesterday!!!:schmoll:

I think be fair a lot of the catchers on here are big hitters with big baits and multipliers

If I can cast 100 yards with my fixed spool I am doing cartwheels

that extra 30 0r 40 yards can make all the difference ?

Sometimes....gives you another weapon in yr armoury. You can be fishing with the right baits, the right rigs, at the right time and in the right weather, but if you aint reaching the fish, then ya might as well have stayed home (not that I'm a big caster, but am ok i guess)

so..if I was going to consider a reel that would cast a fair distance , be easy to control and handle the rough stuff ?

slosh ?

okuma magnetic ?

abu 7000 red ?

tried em all but I do find using a multiplier difficult

Of those three....probably the slosh.
However, the okuma magnetix MG 30CS has had great reviews too, and as a newcomer to multi's, the mags might help alot Paul. Either that, or get a slosh and get it running slowly at first until you get used to it, then thin the oil...take out a brake block, reduce brake block size etc.
What is it that you find difficult?
Pop round anytime if you want, you can try out my 7HT, I'll set it to run slower than I normally have it

well the main fact is over runs

and of course that try as I might, I cant use a multiplier with right hand wind

it has to be left hand, like my fixed spools, as I am a coarse fisherman
Overruns can be overcome easily enough, it's just a matter of reel tuning
Weird how you cant use right handed though, I can use either right hand for multi's and left or right for f/s. I think it's just a matter of getting familiar with it, do anything often enough, soon enough you'll get it right, then it'' become easier
offer still stands anyway...I'll even reel in for ya, lol
