the mark i fish in cumbria where i know there are bass i only use lugworm, i have used all the baits you have mentioned and more, lug even outfishes peeler on this mark even in spring when peeler is supposed to be the no1 bait. I have fished this mark for years and experimented with all baits and yes i have caught bass with other baits apart from lug but have always found lugworm to outfish all of the others. i am casting over a lugworm bed so i guess thats what the bass are looking for, are there any obvious signs of which food the bass are looking for on your mark.

Another North Wales fisher, yeah peeler crab is the baby, and sand eel. Although known them caught on squid, but squid is mostly dogggie food, in my opinion.

Fish the beach when there is an onshore wind or good swell to churn up the seabed and give the bass some feeding opportunities and cover, there should be less doggies about then and more bass. Ideally just before or after the top of the spring tides , . Bass will take a multitude of baits but you need the right conditions to bring them in to the beach .
That said , i know nothing about your venue , its just that if your catching dogs its probably not that rough or you're casting to far.
Ofcourse there is is always exceptions to every rule and bass are caught when it is calm but you definately give yourself a better chance when the sea is rougher .
A big bunch of lug or a couple of peelers mounted on a ledgered pennel rig in the surf usually do the trick

Fish baits will attract the dogs, sand eel and squid especially.

I'd try bluey, I've noticed that the dogfish don't seem to go for it as much as other fish baits.

Crab is the other top bait, had all my bass this year on them off the rocks.

Like has been said in another post fish in a strong onshore wind, plenty of surf rolling preferably in darkness. You don't usually get other fish out in these conditions but the bass are strong enough swimmers to be out picking up food that's been disturbed by the surf.
