Im planning on fishing the back of the breakwater one night this week and was after a bit of advice.I know rotten bottoms are a must and I will lose a lot of gear(from past visits) but wanted advice on trace/rig type, length and snood length to maximise catch chance.

A long shockleader or better still heavy line right through. There are some big pollack there from now on and especially later into Autumn. I nearly lost a rod to one back last November!

Consider tying your rod to something with a decent lanyard!
